1868-1872	Pharmacy assistant in Geestemünde, Moringen and Hamburg
1872-1873	one-year voluntary military pharmacist at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Berlin, where he also Assistant to Prof. Carl Gottlieb Heinrich Erdmann, and Study of pharmacy at the University of Berlin
1873	pharmaceutical state examination with August Wilhelm von Hofmann in Berlin
1874	Doctorate with Ferdinand Wibel in Göttingen (The work was carried out in 1873/1874 in the chemical laboratory of the Academic High School in Hamburg and submitted to the University of Göttingen)
1874-1878	Work in the pharmacy of Hennings Co. in Charters Towers (Queensland) in Australia
1878?-1880?	Work in a pharmacy in Gronau
1880-1898	Leasing/management of the Rats pharmacy in Stadthagen (Here with him also Dr. August Oetker - pharmacist and food manufacturer, known as "Dr. Oetker") From 1890 Karl Schütte was the administrator of the pharmacy, later Franz Häberlin

• The brothers Hans and Ernst Brackebusch completed their doctoral theses at the Hamburg State Chemical Laboratory, the forerunner of the Department of Chemistry, under the supervision of Ferdinand Wibel. Since Hamburg did not yet have the right to award doctorates, the thesis was submitted to the University of Göttingen. So these are quasi the first (now again known) doctoral theses in Hamburg.
• The Oranien-Apotheke in Wiesbaden was continued by his son-in-law and is still owned by the family today.
